Homemade Corndogs

Ingredients:
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
2 Tbsp oil (+ oil for frying)
1 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2/3 cup cornmeal
1/3 cup flour
hotdogs
skewers or popsicle sticks

Preheat oil in deep fryer to 350 degrees.

Rinse the greasy liquid off of the hotdogs and dry. Roll in flour and dust off excess. This prevents the batter from sliding right off of the hotdog.

Mix all the above ingredients together. It's difficult to dip the floured hotdog into a bowl of batter, so I strongly recommend pouring it into a tall cup to dip into. I prefer using a plastic cup so I can just throw it away after.

Immediately and gently place the battered hotdog into the hot oil. Let it cook for about 30 seconds before adding another one, and don't try to cook more than 2 at a time. They stick together.

Cook until golden brown. About 3-5 minutes.

These were so good Jim asked for them twice last week.
This is enough batter for about 6 hotdogs.
