Random Bits

For future references, today's the day the Stock Market dropped 778 points (equivilant to $1.2 Trillion). Um, I don't know exactly how that affects me, but it sure doesn't sound good. I logged into my 401k account thinking I'd fix it before I lost all my retirement, but, well, I don't know anything about it, so I gave up and left it. I figure it's got about 30 years to correct itself before I can cash in anyway (30 years, OMG that's FOREVER away!).

Jim got one of these things that have been advertised on TV so he can continue bulking up his studly self. I tried to do just one pull up. Didn't happen. I could barely even lift my feet off the ground before I felt severe burning in my armpits. Sad, huh?

Lastly, I have to express to you how much I love these Otter Pops (I don't know why they're called that, we prefer to call them Icy Pops). First of all, they are SUPER delicious. Secondly, they only have 25 Calories and 0 Fat. Can't beat that. And third? They make me feel like a kid again!

You should get some of these!!!

I tried

So, I was so excited that I figured out how to create a background, but no matter how hard I tried to make one that would work, it always ended up making my words hard to see. As you can see, I settled on changing up my header instead.
On a more positive note, I got some new kicks this week!

Today me and Jim are going to work on finishing the downstairs bathroom. I tried to hang beadboard myself when Jim went to MO to help Big Jim move here, and well, let's just say we're redoing it today. This house is a never ending project! I'll post pics later.

I Heart Books

I just finished reading this book.

It's a touching book about a little girl that was kidnapped and kept tied up and unloved for years until she escapes and emerges into a small town in Western Washington. She is a wild child that doesn't speak or know how to interact with humans. A good read, I recommend it.
I received 3 more books today from my book club, can't wait to rip into them!

Good Humor

I stumbled onto this Christian comedian by the name of Tim Hawkins a while back. Here are a few of my favorite clips. You have to scroll down to the bottom and mute my music first. Enjoy...

Very Important Stuff

Yesterday I got the brilliant idea to try to color my own hair. I spent forever in the do-it-yourself-hair-color aisle talking to my mom on the cell to make sure I got the right kind of color.
What about this one? No, that one will turn your hair green.
What about this one? No, that one will turn your hair pink.
Hmmmm, maybe this is a bad idea.
Finally, Mom and I settled on one that she thought might work but she still warned me to do a test patch, just in case (I'm afraid of my hair falling out at this point).
Here I am, nervous and anxious about ruining my hair like so many do-it-yourselfers before me.

Ya, see those roots? Not a great look.

Here's what I look like now. Thanks L'Oreal.

Nothing Special, Everything Special

Today was a wonderful day of nothingness. I got to sleep in then lazily get ready while drinking cup after cup of coffee and watching Golden Girls (one of my all time faves).

Jim and I had lunch at Olive Garden (another Angie fave) then did a little light shopping. Jim was happy to find the final movie to complete his Dirty Harry DVD collection.

I read one time that when you think back on the happiest times in your life, it's not typically a Birthday or a Christmas or another "big" day that you think of. It's the little everyday things that mean the most. Today was like that.

A Week of Birthdays

Wednesday was my 31st Birthday. Jim made me a wonderful Birthday Cake (complete with tons of sprinkles) and I finally got a new camera to replace the one I lost. I researched cameras for several weeks before I finally decided which one to get. It's a Sony DSC H50 and I LOVE IT!
Yesterday was Big Jim's 76th Birthday. So, we had MORE cake (yum). He just had some blood work done and he's healthy as a horse, not even high cholesterol which is pretty amazing because he eats bacon or sausage almost daily.

And finally, today is my Mom's Birthday. I'm pretty sure I'd get in trouble if I revealed her age on this site, so let's just say she's a year older than she was, but as beautiful as ever. I wish I could give her a big hug and kiss, but we're in Washington and she's in Missouri. A phone conversation and long distance love will have to do for now. Love you Mom.
